If you are from one of the following countries, you fall on a list that is barred from applying to the Diversity Visa Program this year. Those born in the following countries are currently not eligible: Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (including Hong Kong SAR), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) as well as its dependent territories, and Vietnam. People born in Macau SAR and Taiwan can participate.

*A good thing to remember is that all applicants must have obtained a high school education (or the equivalent) or at least two qualifying years of work experience.

*All applicants must submit an online form and a digital photo through the official Diversity Visa lottery website. Diversity Visa program lottery applicants may include in their submission a spouse (or even a same-sex or opposite-sex partner) and all of their children.
